Tailored Getaways from Ho Chi Minh City

Staying in Ho Chi Minh City for a few extra days?

There is a lot to discover Nearby the city.

From the coast of Vũng Tàu, to the sand dunes of Mũi Né, to the waterways of the Mekong Delta, each destination offers something completely different.

And you don't have to figure everything out yourself.

Day Trip or Overnight? Both are possible.

SaigonWith.Me can help you plan the trip, arrange the practical details, and, when appropriate, join you as a travel companion.

Choose Your Escape

🌊 Vũng Tàu - Coast, seafood & seaside life

Think beaches, fishing boats, fresh seafood, hills, sea views and a lively seaside atmosphere.

It works well as a day trip, but an overnight stay gives you more time to slow down and experience the city beyond the beach.

And there is something worth knowing if you are planning your trip today:

Vũng Tàu is now part of the expanded Ho Chi Minh City administrative area,

following the 2025 administrative reorganization that brought Ho Chi Minh City, Bình Dương and Bà Ra-Vũng Tàu together.

The new Vũng Tàu ward began operating on July 1, 2025.

Geographically and experientially, though, it still feels like a very different escape from central Saigon.

🌴 The Mekong Delta: A Different Vietnam

Around 70-250+ km from Ho Chi Minh City | About 2-4+ hours by road

Time to visit: November - April

Rivers, deep canals & life shaped by water

The Mekong Delta is a completely different world from the city.

Here, rivers and canals are part of everyday life.

You can move through narrow waterways by small local boat, see houses and gardens along the canals,

explore rural areas and experience landscapes where water is not simply scenery but part of how people live and work.

This is especially important here.

The Mekong isn't something you really understand by simply arriving at a tourist attraction, taking a few photographs and leaving.

The waterways, boats and local life are the experience.

🌴 Main Mekong Delta attractions

Mekong River & Canals
The defining feature of the Delta, with a vast network of rivers and smaller canals connecting towns, villages, farms and waterways.

Floating Markets
Traditional markets where boats gather to sell fruit and other produce directly from the river, with Cái Răng Floating Market near Cần Thơ being the best-known.

Rice Fields & Agriculture
The Delta is one of Vietnam's major agricultural regions, producing a large share of the country's rice as well as fruit, vegetables and other crops.

Fruit Orchards
Tropical orchards are spread throughout the Delta, where visitors can see and taste fruits such as pomelo, durian, rambutan, mangosteen and coconut.

Rural Villages & Local Life
Small roads, farms, houses, workshops and waterways offer a chance to see everyday life away from the larger cities and tourist areas.

Boat Trips Through the Canals
Smaller boats can take you into narrow canals and waterways where the landscape becomes much more intimate than on the main river.

Cần Thơ
The Delta's largest city and an important regional center, best known to visitors for its riverfront, food scene and access to Cái Răng Floating Market.

Coconut & Craft Villages
Around places such as Bến Tre, traditional workshops and small family businesses produce coconut products, sweets, handicrafts and other goods.

Mekong Food & Local Cuisine
The Delta has its own strong food culture, built around freshwater fish, tropical fruit, rice, coconut and locally grown produce.

Pagodas & Khmer Culture
The southern Delta is also home to a significant Khmer cultural presence, particularly around Sóc Trăng and Trà Vinh, with distinctive Khmer Buddhist temples.

ℹ️ Note:

I can support you with arranging and booking your Mekong trip, whether you prefer to travel independently or have me join you as your personal travel companion.

If I join you, we'll travel together from Saigon, joining a small group and a Vietnamese tour guide in a bus or van. The group may include other travelers.
